Hello Year 3!
As we talked about, we knew that school closing was a possibility!
In class, we have had many discussions about the importance of education and how, as a school, we are going to support you in your learning at home.
School have taken the opportunity to subscribe to many excellent and interactive online learning programmes that will support you during this time period – we have discussed these all in class and have practiced accessing all of these websites to make sure log-ins work and home learning runs as smoothly as possible.
You have been sent home with an exercise book containing your log-ins for the following:
Purple mash, Times Table Rock Stars, Reading Theory and Spelling and Maths Shed (However, please ensure you are typing in your usernames and passwords correctly, leaving no spaces and checking for lower/upper case words).
If you have any problems logging in to any of these from home, please contact me on EHenshaw@haddon.notts.sch.uk
As discussed, children have to complete these tasks throughout the working week (Mon-Fri):
Reading theory – 30 minutes per day.
Spelling/ Maths shed – 20 minutes per day.
Times Table Rock Stars – 20 minutes per day.
Reading your book banded book OR free reader at home. Some book banded books are available on https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/ – 20 minutes per day.
Fast Learning; children have to write out spellings using the Y3/4 spelling list provided. If you have lost the spelling list, you will find it on: https://cdn.oxfordowl.co.uk/2019/08/29/13/54/08/76f1443d-9b6d-4030-be0d-25fcfef01438/SpellingWordList_Y3-4.pdf – At least 4x per week.
****All children are expected to check their ‘2do’s’ on Purple Mash daily, there will be a deadline set for each task set (again this will be on Purple Mash). I will be setting tasks on Purple Mash at least 3-4 times per week – and I will be available on line to assist you or answer any queries you may have between 9:30 and 11:30 and 13:30 and 14:30 each working day so please check this.
We really want to support your continued education so just like during term time, as long as you are well, we strongly suggest that you complete all the tasks set so you do not miss out or fall behind. As discussed, I can check how you are getting on with each activity and will be ‘marking’ the work and offering feedback. We will also be able to see when you are logging in and how long you are working for. The expectation is for you to be doing at least 3 hours of work per school day (Mon-Fri) – You can do this!
