Tuesday 9th February

Well done with yesterday's Maths everyone, moving on to subtracting money today.

Keep having a go on times tables rock stars.  When I checked early this morning, the girls have a score of 334 and the boys 89, so keep on going, boys - see if you can catch up today - 4 more days to go!

Spr3.5.1 - Subtract money

Watch the video, pausing when it asks you to to complete the tasks, before having a go at the worksheet.
This is "Spr3.5.1 - Subtract money" by White Rose Maths on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.

In today's live lesson we are going to have a little catch up with one another, listen to a lovely story and play a game called "Where in the World am I?" using a world map to help us.  I will send the link to the 10am lesson at about 9am, to those parents who have signed and submitted the live lesson protocols sent by Miss Capek last week. I will send the link on Dojo messages.  Please don't share the link with anyone as I can't admit children to the lesson if their parents haven't signed the protocol form.  If you don't have Zoom downloaded (it's free!) on the device your child will be using to take part in the lesson, download it a few minutes before 10, then click on the link I send you at around 9.59 and it will take you into the waiting room.  I'll admit you to the lesson at 10am.  Can't wait to see you all!

Watch my video to help you be successful with today's fast learning and Grammar Blast and then I'll show you how we're going to begin to change our plan/boxing up grid from yesterday into our real story, including all of the features we are looking for.  We're just going to work on the opening and build up today.

Watch Mr McKibbin's assembly on Safer Internet Day.  There's some news that might make you worried!

Today is safer internet day.  BBC Teach are broadcasting a live lesson today at 11am to focus on the importance of using the internet safely all year round.

You can find it here if you want to watch live:

The children in school won't be watching live as they will be busy with their English - story writing at this time and will watch the lesson and complete the activity sheet this afternoon. You can catch up with the lesson later on here:

From these bbc pages, there are other great links to click on to explore safer internet day further.  I'm looking forward to seeing you submitting your activity sheets to show me you're really thinking about staying safe online.

Also, I wonder who's going to earn Dojo points today for completing:

  • all their Maths tasks (up to 10 minutes on number bonds grid, up to 10 minutes on ten in ten, up to 40 minutes on the video and worksheets
  • all their English tasks (up to 10 minutes on Fast Learning, up to 10 minutes on Grammar Blast, up to 40 minutes on writing your story opening and build up)
  • the safer internet day live lesson watch and activity sheet.
