Home Learning- Week 1- Sunday 22nd March 2020
Hello Year 1,
First of all, I’d just like to thank all of you for your help and support at this time. This is a really challenging time for parents, teachers and most importantly, the children and unity and routine, in what may feel like madness, is one of the best things we can offer them.
In class, we have had many discussions about the importance of school and how to be independent learners.
To help with this, School have taken the opportunity to subscribe to many online learning programmes that will support you during this time period – we have discussed these all in class.
Purple Mash, Times Table Rock Stars, Letter Join and Spelling/ Maths Shed logins are stuck in the front of the orange books that have been provided to each of you, and I also have a copy. However, please ensure you are typing in your usernames and passwords correctly, leaving no spaces and checking for lower/upper case words. If you’re having any trouble logging in to any programmes or need any help with Home Learning– please contact me on: email@example.com. I will be available on line to assist you or answer any queries you may have between 9:30 and 11:30 and 13:30 and 14:30 each working day so don’t hesitate to get in touch should you need help.
Each week I will provide Maths, Reading, Writing, Phonics and other topic tasks based on learning I know we have covered in class. These tasks will be appropriate for their age and stage and where possible, will build upon learning already covered.
So here is an idea of the kind of things that will be set-
I will also be sending a list of other ideas for activities to do with them, that link to current learning.
As well as this I have started a YouTube channel called missthomteaches where I will post videos for phonics and stories and on Twitter @missthomteaches or @haddon_primary where you can find more ideas/support with home learning.
We really want to support your continued education so just like during term time, as long as you are well, we strongly suggest that you complete all the tasks set so you do not miss out or fall behind.
As discussed, I can check how you are getting on with each activity and can ‘marking’ the online work as well as offering feedback. The children can also write messages on Purple Mash about what they thought about the activity or notes for me to read and enjoy!
We will also be able to see when you are logging in. The expectation is for you to try and do at least 3 hours of work per school day (Mon-Fri).
Home Learning- Week 1- Tuesday 24th March 2020
I have set up the YouTube channel, missthomteaches if you want to head over and check it out- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxmwnT_Nl1KhplO3DxNVMNg
Over the next few days I will be posting some more videos of stories and Phonics content to help with your home learning.
Well done for getting logged onto Purple Mash, I know yesterday there was a lot of problems with the programs because everyone was using them!
Hope you're all good and well. Keep sending photos into me on Twitter @missthomteaches or @Haddon_Primary and check work to see if I've replied on 2Do's. There might be a voice message or written one!
If you need anything don't hesitate to message me on the email provided, I would love to hear from you.

Hope you’re all well and most importantly keeping safe and happy!
I hope the home learning set on Monday was helpful and you’re having some success in using it to support your children at home.
Thank you to everyone who has been logging in, sharing and having a try at some of our home learning. I have been so impressed.
If you haven’t already, could you please have a go at logging on to Purple Mash and completing the register activity in the mornings, just so I can see who is using different resources and know you’re able to access it, if you should wish to! The issues with heavy levels of usage across the country seemed to have been sorted today and there’s been some brilliant work going on already! I have been busy replying to work and sending voice notes and messages so have a check to see if you’ve got one.
All personal log ins are stuck to the inside or slotted in to the orange book provided. I have a copy of all of these should you need them, just pop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and I can send them straight over.
I’d love to see any art/playing/writing/Maths you have been doing too, if you have time to drop us a photo, I’d love to see everyone and we’ll be sure to celebrate all the super home learning that is going on!
